Welcome to Year 1!

In Year 1, in the Autumn Term, we continue to learn in a similar way to Foundation Stage whilst beginning to get used to sitting and working at our tables.

This half term we are excited to be focusing on the topic, "Why are we called the United Kingdom?' Next half term we will be investigating, 'How have leisure activities changed over time?'

We will continue to update our page so you can follow our adventures through Year 1!

Mrs Bell/Mrs Long's class - PE days are Monday and Friday.

Miss Walker's class - PE days are Monday and Thursday.

The days we do PE can change each half term so please make sure PE kits are brought in each Monday and left until Friday. Thank you.

Children will bring homework home on a Tuesday and it is to be handed back in at school by the following Monday.

Thank you.

Please find below some other things we have been doing this year...

Year 1 completed the World Maths Day Event. They loved the challenge and were all determined to finish. A few even went in late to lunch so they could complete the 20 games, and it was their choice! Dedication!

Motty turned up with Mrs Long and Mrs Bell this week, joining in with their maths lessons and helping the children with their work. Hopefully they were able to teach him something new!

Motty our Maths Mascot appeared in Miss Walker's year 1 class this week to help them with some measuring. The children have loved having him and wanted to work harder to teach him new mathematical concepts! Thanks Motty!

Monday 18th September

For our topic homework, we asked our children to make or create something to do with the United Kingdom...and we were not disappointed! The examples which were brought back were simply stunning! Here are a few examples of the hard work which went in. Thank you to all parents and carers for their help.
