April 2019 - Creative Forces Day

Some of our year 5s had a great day at York University taking part in a range of activities as part of Creative Forces Day. Well done to everyone.

April 2019 - 5th Regiment Royal Artillery Visit

Many thanks to our friends from 5th Regiment Royal Artillery based at Marne Barracks who visited us to show us a vehicle and some of their kit. We all had a great time trying it on and asking questions. We look forward to see you again soon.

April 2019 - Tennis Competitions

Well done to our tennis players. We took 2 year 3/4 teams and 2 year 5/6 teams to Richmond School. Some very competitive games played...our year 3/4 teams came 3rd and 5th out of 7 teams - well done guys!! We are still waiting for the results for the year 5/6s. Great effort.

April 2019 - Easter Service in school

Thank you to everyone who attended our Easter service in school as we re-told the Easter story across the classes in the form of a tour. We hope everyone enjoyed their visit.

April 2019 - Year 5/6 Art Project comes to life...

Simply stunning from our year 5s and 6s. A great day spent creating their masterpiece on the playground...wow, just wow!

March 2019 - Year 5/6 South American Art Project

After raising a stunning £1,500 through their enterprise project, our year 5/6 classes started their South American inspired graffiti art work which is going to be transferred to the large wall on the playground...now that's what you call an art project! Weather permitting, the work on the wall with start shortly. Keep an eye out! Well done to our amazing year 5/6s for their determination and initiative with their enterprise work. The rest of the money will also go towards adding extra experiences and opportunities in to their curriculum. 

March 2019 - Indoor Cricket Week 2

Well done to our cricketers who played their final indoor game. A mixed fielding display saw us chasing a large total of 150. Fortunately, some good batting and an equally mixed fielding display from Crakehall saw us score 177 runs and win the game! Well done to all.

March 2019 - Key Stage 1 at Monk Park Farm

Our year 1 and 2 children had a wonderful time at Monk Park Farm as part of their topic work. Thank you to all of our brilliant helpers and well done to our children who were amazing throughout! Great fun!

March 2019 - Cookery Club Treats!

Beautiful work from cookery club - making school smell like an absolute treat! Their cakes looked (and hopefully tasted) delicious. Well done guys!

March 2019 - Cross Country Finals

HUGE congratulations to our cross country runners who qualified for the level 3 North Yorkshire Finals which were held at Dalby Forest. A very tough course and excellent competition from across the county meant the races were very quick. However, out of 70 runners in each race, we had excellent results...Mia (9th), Tegan (39th) and Noah (24th) in their respective races. Wonderful achievement guys...we are very proud of you all.

March 2019 - STEM Club

In STEM club this week, the children explored the beautiful flowers around school. We discussed how to care for flowers and what they need in order to grow. The children did some observational drawings using pastels and created some beautiful pictures!

March 2019 - Year 3 All Stars Cricket

The Year 3s went to Richmond School to take part in the All Stars Cricket festival. They focused on their cricket skills and took part in many different activities which involved throwing, catching, running and batting. The children were a real asset to the school and showed off their FANTASTIC cricket skills. Even the adults had a go, especially on the dive and catch activity. A wonderful morning! Well done Year 3!

March 2019 - Year 1 @ Wackadayz!

Our year 1s enjoyed a trip to Wackadayz earlier in the week as they aimed to raise money for Cancer Research. So far, they have raised a wonderful £130 through donations! Many thanks to Wackadayz for their support and for donating the time in their facility and to parents who helped with transport and made donations.

March 2019 - PIG RACING!!

A huge thank you to everyone who supported our Pig Racing Night. We had over 100 members of our school community turn up for a night of great fun! Special thanks go to Catterick Service Station who sponsored the race card and our race sponsors: Mrs Wright, Catterick Village Co-Op, Catterick Village Fisheries, Catterick Social Club, Wackadayz and ML Sports & Fitness...your support is greatly valued - thank you. Over the night we made an amazing £536. Special thanks to our MSSA members for the work they put in.

March 2019 - Indoor Cricket Week 1

Well done to our indoor cricketers who competed at ML Sports & Fitness in Richmond. A very different experience playing cricket inside but one which was good fun! Some super catches and good shots didn't stop us losing both matches. We return in two weeks for our play off match..well done team!

March 2019 - Eco Team clear up!

Our Eco-Committee, helped by our Eco-Team, have started the mammoth job of clearing a site in the school grounds to turn in to a wildlife garden and vegetable area. Here's just some of the old bushes, twigs and leaves they have collected as well as clearing rubbish from the site. We have trees and bushes ready to plant to create what will be a wonderful place for us all to use, learn and relax in. Watch this space!

March 2019 - World Book Day

We had a great day sharing books with each other. Classes joined together with our older children buddying up with the younger ones to demonstrate our brilliant school community. There were some amazing costumes...well done to everyone and thank you for getting stuck in!

March 2019 - Year 1/2 Topic Launch - Farms and Cities

Our year 1/2 children had a great time during their topic launch for their new topic, 'Farms and Cities'. There was a lot of making and doing going on and only a little bit of mess made...honest! The main thing is everyone had a great time to launch their topic with some wonderful work.

March 2019 - Year 3/4 Volcanoes!

Over the holidays, Years 3 and 4 were asked to create a volcano using different materials as part of their new topic. Quite a few children brought in their volcanoes on the first day back and they are INCREDIBLE!!!! We are so impressed with all the hard work they have put into making them and we would like to thank everyone at home for their support. 
We can't wait to see the rest!

March 2019 - School Games Update

Our School Games journey continues during the first week back with the year 3/4 hockey competition at Richmond School. We are also rapidly approaching cricket and tennis season with School Games events to prepare for either side of Easter. We also have an interest in the Level 3 Cross Country Finals to be held at Dalby Forest in March with 2 year 3 girls and 1 year 4 boy running there...keep an eye out on the website and our Facebook page for how they get on.
