November 2016 - Anti-Bullying WeekAnti-Bullying WeekAnti-Bullying Week

As part of our PSHE programme, we supported Anti-Bullying Week from 14th-18th November. We started the week off with an assembly to discuss what bullying is and how people can react to it. We spoke about how it was different to people being rude or angry and how it was repetitive and sustained. Each class did their own activities around the theme 'The Power of Good' and presented their work in another assembly at the end of the week. Classes focused on the following; Foundation Stage looked at being a good friend; Year 1 spoke about acts of kindness (also a link to our Christian Value this term!); Year 2 thought about their own qualities and what it means to be a good friend; Year 3 looked at the different types of bullying and what to do about them; Year 4 investigated cyber-bullying; Year 5 looked at what to do if you are being bullied and converted these into top tips for young people and Year 6 created videos linked to why bulling is bad and the effects it has. A great week's work!

November 2016 - North Yorkshire Pupil Voice Conference

Four of our year 5 and 6 pupils attended the North Yorkshire Pupil Voice Conference in Harrogate. It was a wonderful day with lots of ideas to bring back to school about the importance of pupil voice and how we can make it even more beneficial than it already is. This group will hold the teachers to account and ensure pupil voice comes through in our school and has a greater impact than it does already.

We even met Paralympic Athlete Kadeena Cox along with her bronze, silver and 2 gold medals from Rio 2016!

A wonderful day.
