National Online Safety - Parents and Carers Course

As a school, we value and appreciate the importance of staying safe online, being open and talking about worries and issues and educating our whole school community so that the benefits of technology and the online world can be felt by all and enjoyed in the right way. We have registered as a 'National Online Safety' school and have access to training for parents and carers around key issues which your child may encounter and what you can do about it.

The course layout is in a way which teaches you what the issue is and what it involves, the dangers brought on by that issue, strategies for prevention, and what to do if an incident arises. It uses videos with each being approximately five minutes long, making it a much more convenient and effective approach to learning as they can be watched at your convenience.

Note to parents: Please understand that some of the topics covered are not appropriate to discuss with children of all ages, therefore we advise you to assess the suitability of the topic before starting a conversation with your child. We advise that you be confident and reassuring when talking to them, and make sure they understand that you are only looking out for them. It’s important that they can talk to a trusted adult about any incident, online and offline, but they should also know how to report issues to services such as ChildLine, CEOP, and the NSPCC.

As a school, we are also always here to provide advice and support for such issues.

Wake Up Wednesday - Get the knowledge!

National Online Safety believe in empowering parents, carers and trusted adults with the information they need to hold informed and age-appropriate conversations about online safety with their child, should they feel it is needed. Every Wednesday, they produce guides to focus on specific platforms/risks which we believe trusted adults should be aware of.
