September to October 2020

October 2020 - Year 6 Prep!

Our year 6s had a visit from Jim from Marrick Priory to prepare them for a series of canoeing sessions. They will be doing these  in the absence of their traditional residential trip which has unfortunately been cancelled due to COVID-19. These sessions have taken months of planning to make sure our year 6s don't miss out! We can't wait!

October 2020 - Drumba Day

What an amazing day we have had again doing Drumba! Some very hot and sweaty people in school again today (including staff!) What a great way to spend the day.

October 2020 - Gardening Club keeping busy...

Our gardening club have been working hard preparing beds and planting garlic this week.

October 2020 - PE Premium Award Winners...

We are delighted to announce that we have won the North Yorkshire PE Premium Award for Whole School Improvement for an amazing 4th year in a row! We are incredibly proud of our whole school community for the work they do and the impact that school sport and physical activity has on every aspect of the children's lives.

October 2020 - Food Bank back up and running!

Our food bank is back in action under the canopy at the front of school. We will keep this as topped up as we can again from now on. Please help yourself.

October 2020 - Year 3 and 4 Cricket and Multi-Skills

Our year 3 and 4 classes had more cricket and multi-skills fun this week. Hopefully the weather will hold out for our last couple of sessions over the coming weeks! Great work everyone.

October 2020 - Quidditch...actual Quidditch!

We had great fun at our first Quidditch after school club. We discovered there are lots of rules, an awful lot of running and so much fun but not a broomstick in sight! We can't wait to see how our playing develops.

September 2020 - Year 3 and 4 Cricket and Multi-Skills

Our year 3 and 4 classes had the first of their cricket and multi-skills sessions on the field yesterday. We can't wait to see their skills develop over the next few weeks while doing even more activity and having a great time!

September 2020 - Year 1 and 2 Multi-Skills Festival

In the absence of the traditional cluster multi-skills festival at Richmond School, our year 1 and 2 classes managed to beat the weather and complete the festival on our playground instead. The children were fantastic throughout with some excellent jumping, running, throwing and balancing. A huge thank you to ML Sports & Fitness for running it for us.

September 2020 - Year 5 and 6 Topic Launch...

Year 5 and 6 had a fantastic topic launch as they begin to discover the impact of British history on life in Yorkshire. The children worked collaboratively and creatively to explore artefacts from WW2 and made their own evacuee suitcases.

September 2020 - Year 3 and 4 Topic Launch...

Our year 3 and 4 children had a fabulous time learning all about who the Anglo Saxons were and what weapons they might use to protect themselves in battle. They even had a go at designing and making their own shields.

September 2020 - Year 1 and 2 Topic Launch...

Year 1 and 2 have had great fun launching their topic. They have recreated Pudding Lane after the Fire of London burnt the houses down. Year 2 designed their own Pudding Lane Tudor houses on '2 design and make' on Purple Mash to make a net of our houses which we then built.

September 2020 - Welcome New Foundation Stage...

Our Foundation Stage staff are really excited to welcome our new children in to school. They have been working incredibly hard to get the areas of the classroom spaces ready and would like to share these so that children can see them. Can't wait to meet you all!

September 2020 - School Games Update

We are looking forward to taking part in as many events this year as we can. We already have a full autumn term of virtual events including dance, archery, golf, orienteering and kurling. We are continuing to run a number of lunchtime and after school clubs in our bubbles but due to the restrictions the number of activities on offer does currently differ from normal. Watch this space though...we are excited to have Drumba and Quidditch clubs this term!

September 2020 - Happy to be back!

We are delighted to have re-opened to ALL children following our partial opening for the children of key workers and vulnerable children during the summer term. We have worked hard to ensure we are doing all we can be so that we are COVID secure. It's great to have all of the children back!
