Swaledale Teaching School Alliance
Swaledale Alliance
Introduction to the Swaledale Alliance
We are delighted to be a part of the 'Swaledale Alliance' - a group of over 60 local schools forming a Teaching Schools' Alliance. This involves substantial collaborative working in a variety of areas, including staff CPD, in house support, courses, shared resources and joint projects. The Alliance also offers Initial Teacher Training opportunities within the Alliance schools.
Our current roles within the Alliance
Currently, Mrs McHarg, our headteacher, represents the Catterick Cluster of schools on the Alliance Steering group.
Mr Saunders, our deputy headteacher, works for the alliance as 'Specialist Leader of Education' - going into other schools to offer them support and advice to help improve their practice. He does this for English and PE. He also organises the Alliance's Curriculum Support Teachers for PE and is part of the assessment working party, looking at new systems of assessing pupil progress following the government's removal of National Curriculum Levels. Mr Saunders is also a Peer Support Teacher, supporting teaching colleagues and modelling lessons for them to observe.
